GFI Capital Resources Group, Inc. announces the appointment of Mitchell Sabshon as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the organization. Mitchell will be responsible for overseeing business operations and strategies, as well as the growth of GFI's sales brokerage, commercial mortgage finance, residential mortgage banking and insurance services divisions.

Prior to joining GFI, Sabshon held a variety of leadership positions at Goldman Sachs & Company, including as a banker within the Real Estate Investment Banking Group, focused on the commercial mortgage lending and securitization business. He also served as chief executive officer of Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Capital (formally, Archon Financial), the origination arm of the firm's commercial mortgage conduit business. Most recently, within Goldman Sachs Asset Management's U.S. Institutional Sales Group, Sabshon was responsible for relationship management with the insurance industry.

Before the start of his tenure at Goldman Sachs in 1997, Sabshon was a senior vice president in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Lehman Brothers. From 1985, until joining Lehman Brothers in 1991, he practiced securities and mortgage securitization law at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. He holds a J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and a B.A. from George Washington University.
