John O'Connell, Esq., of New York has joined Becker Meisel LLC's New York Office as a partner. O'Connell focuses his practice on compliance and investigations relating to securities and financial markets as well as erosion law.
O'Connell's career spans nearly three decades. He has practiced law since 1972 with three prominent New York City firms: Webster & Sheffield, Solomon Zauderer Ellenhom Frischer & Sharp, and most recently, DLA Piper Rudnick, the fourth largest law firm in the world.
He has represented large international financial institutions--and their officers and directors--in securities litigation and government investigations. In addition, he has represented electric utilities, telecommunications companies, automobile manufacturers and other similar companies in litigation involving complex technologies. This includes matters regarding claims of design defect and infringement of intellectual property rights. He possesses extensive experience in environmental and products liability litigation.
In addition, O'Connell is actively involved in a large number of public interest activities. He serves as the executive director of the Guild of Catholic Lawyers of the Archdiocese of New York and past president of the Fairfield County Chapter of Legatus.
