Rockrose tops out tower
Real Estate Weekly, Nov 28, 2007
Brothers Tom and Frederick Elghanayan of Rockrose Development Corp. celebrated the Topping Out of their first condominium at EastCoast, the 22-acre waterfront site in Long Island City last week.
Construction workers were treated to an Italian feast in the last remaining retail space at EastCoast- 4720 Center Boulevard.
Little information has been released on the Handel-designed, 184 unit condo, which is planned to open for sales this spring.
Almost every unit will feature breathtaking views of the East River and the Manhattan skyline, as well as generous outdoor space.
The Elghanayan brothers are planning to purchase a number of apartments for themselves and their families.
Over the next six years, Rockrose will build a total of seven luxury towers on the 22-acre waterfront site in the northern-most section of Queens West in Long Island City that was once the home of a Pepsi-Cola bottling plant.
Once completed, the project will be comprised of 2.9 million square feet of mixed-use space (2,900 luxury rental apartments, sophisticated condominiums and retail spaces), surrounded by 8 acres of waterfront parkland. EastCoast is to be developed in eight phases, with all buildings expected to be completed by 2012.
