Generation Online

Science World,  Feb 8, 1999  by Michael Cannell

Seems like the Internet has become one big cyberparty as swelling crowds of computer users log on to chat, shoot down aliens, and shop `til their hands drop. Who are these Web cruisers? Teens are becoming the most wired segment of society, according to Jupiter Communications, an Internet research group.

By 2002, 75 percent of teens (ages 13-17) will use online services and the Internet, far surpassing other age groups.

More than 4 million teens were online in 1997, and that number will more than triple to 15.2 million users in three years. Forty percent of teen users will access the `Net through a school or library, Jupiter predicts. And they'll transfer more and more homework to teachers electronically. No more claiming the dog ate your homework!
