Revel in revelation: show 'em what you're made of

Interview,  Feb, 2008  by Brendan Lemon

When Henry James wrote in his novel The Ambassadors about a character's "fluidity of self-revelation," he could have been describing spring 2008's trend toward transparency. That's because the models who sported these often colorful looks did not come across as some sort of shocking display. Instead, their beautifully adorned, partially uncovered bodies were a smoothly captured reflection of where popular culture is right now: a place where exhibiting oneself--physically, emotionally--and all one's secrets have lost their shame and embarrassment and have become, much more often, an assertion of self.
