Most Popular White Papers
Broadway's undressing room
Interview, Sept, 2007 by Roxanne Lowit
Strippers meet tippers when the Great White Way's dancers perform at Broadway Bares, an annual event that benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. On this steamy evening, Roseland Ballroom in midtown Manhattan becomes a bacchanal of bodily assets--and patrons, for a cash contribution, can make the acquaintance of the scantily clad dancers as they work the stage in bump-and-grind fashion. Before that point the dancers perform in burlesque-like numbers, which for the latest edition featured the theme Myth-Behavior.
Many classic Greek gods were evoked, while a few new Broadway Bares gods-with-bods were created. A total of $743,787 was raised, of which $115,000 was contributed by the MAC AIDS Fund, and $32,501 came from the cash crammed into G-strings.
