Miller time

Interview,  March, 2006  by J. DiPaulo,  Meghan Hass

Dear Interview,

I think Andy Warhol would have been mighty pleased with Sam Taylor-Wood's terrific cover story on Sienna Miller [February 2006]. In addition to creating unforgettable pictures of Miller that capture the spirit of Warhol's all-time number one muse and glamour girl, Edie Sedgwick, Taylor-Wood also got the kind of interview with the actress that Warhol might have done himself. It's the sort of chatty, fly-on-the-wall experience that's at the heart of what Interview is all about, and, like so many of Andy's interviews, the dialogue is actually very revealing. Bravo to Taylor-Wood for this terrific doubleheader, and kudos to Miller for finally sharing her true feelings about the nanny!

J. DiPAULO Philadelphia

Dear Interview,

I've long been a fan of Sam Taylor-Wood's fine-art photography and of the celebrity portraiture she's done for your publication, but I was absolutely floored by the recent cover story she shot for you with up-and-coming actress Sienna Miller. I'd heard, of course, that Miller had signed on to play Edie Sedgwick in the forthcoming Factory Girl (yes, I read the tabloids in addition to your esteemed publication), and Taylor-Wood's beautiful, captivating photos make it abundantly clear why the actress was cast. Even in a magazine with as long a history of running great, groundbreaking imagery as yours, these pictures were a standout. Miller has never looked lovelier, and Warholite that I am I can't think of a film in recent years that I was looking forward to seeing as much as I am Factory Girl.
