If Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis is indie rock's princess, then Neko Case is its queen. With its sing-along choruses and psychedelic energy, this third offering from Case and her band the New Pornographers proves that the Canadian quintet can do bouncy exuberance as deftly as they can sweep through drama, mystery, and bittersweet joy--sometimes, as in the crushing "The Bleeding Heart Show," within the course of a single song. It's their best work yet.
