SPIRIT OF INDEPENDENCE?
Dear Interview,
I just wanted to write and thank you for running that piece on Jake Gyllenhaal [August]. I've literally just got back from seeing The Good Girl and I can't tell you how amazing it is to see a young guy with so much talent not sell out in Hollywood to the big blockbuster shoot 'em up movies. His selection of films seems to stem from the same place his immense talent does, and it's refreshing to learn about someone his age who sees acting as a form of art to be crafted and cared for. Your magazine always seems to pick up on the most innovative and freshest faces in the varying entertainment fields and I always look forward to seeing if your new discoveries in entertainment coincide with mine. Sure enough, they usually do.

INTERVIEW'S GLEE CLUB
Dear Interview,
Just a quick note to let you know how much I thoroughly enjoy your magazine. The eclectic mix of interviewers and interviewees really keeps me coming back with glee and anticipation each issue! Thanks!

FROM MUSCLE TO CURVES
Dear Interview,
Thank you so much for not simply memorializing the foundation-shaking tragedy of September 11 in your September issue. Patti Smith has been able to make a stunning visual presentation of the real, gut feeling of the aftermath, without waxing morbid and merely tugging on our heartstrings, as most of the media have for the past year. Art is not "useless" if it can speak for even one person unable to find the words.
Also, thank you for featuring Naomi Watts [September]. How lovely! How very much she favors my favorite actress, Nicole Kidman. Tell the folks down under to keep sending them our way! In addition, it was great to see Anastacia [September]. I used to love Taylor Dayne (showing my age?), and it was great hearing from another girl who's not afraid to belt it out. And lastly, I can't wait to see what happens in the future for Trina [September]. It will be interesting to see what she can do with her talent and experience. Thanks for showing us a curvy, sexy lady ready to diversify and planning against obsolescence.

TRUE CONFESSIONS
Dear Interview,
For starters, a confession: Since I first stumbled on his show on MTV a year or so ago, I've been a secret Jackass junkie, an obsession that I can only attribute to the mix of disgust, horror and (here goes) lust that Johnny Knoxville's juvenile behavior seems to stir up in me. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Knoxville seems to favor jockstraps and other protective sports gear for his on-air appearances. Frankly, it's a reaction I've avoided sharing with my friends and family for no better reason than pure embarrassment. So imagine my surprise when I opened your September issue and discovered not just all those tantalizing pictures of my man Johnny, but an interview that revealed him to be oddly sweet and sensitive, not to mention sharp. Too bad he's already married.

Dear Interview,
Thanks for the Johnny Knoxville piece. Watching his show I always knew there was something I liked about him, but now, having read Chris Nieratko's interview, I know what it is. Unlike so many people working in Hollywood, Knoxville (Clapp) doesn't take himself too seriously and is less concerned with impressing the world with his smarts and talent than with just having a genuine good time. It's a refreshing change, particularly in these cynical times.

BAD NEWS FOR VACUUM CLEANERS
Dear Interview,
I just wanted to say I thought the pictures in your "Put a Spell on You" story [September] were pretty remarkable--very Blair Witch Project meets The Addams Family. You may just have elevated the lowly broom to the must-have fashion accessory of the season!

ALL ABOUT EVE
Dear Interview,
I've been a fan of Eve's since the beginning, but it wasn't until I read Dimitri Ehrlich's interview [September] with the rapper (and actress) that I realized how funny she was, and how forthright. That's one great thing about your magazine--we get to hear people speak in their own voices as opposed to being funneled through the mind of a writer. As a result, you get a real sense of who they are as people, without all that writer crap. So kudos to the Interview team for a great piece, and especially to David LaChapelle for some of the hottest photos ever--as far as I'm concerned, he's the best there is.
