L.A. special issue
Interview, Nov, 2002
A great big thanks to Karl Lagerfeld, who photographed so many of the portraits for this special L.A. issue, the second in a two-part series.
Thanks also to Sheryl Nields, who photographed the cover story and the entire L.A. Rocks portfolio.
In creating the images presented here and in October, both photographers were assisted by teams of creative individuals whose contributions were intrinsic to the look and feel of the issues. Both teams deserve special attention.
THE LAGERFELD HOUSE-CALL SHOOTS
For his eye for detail and his organizational prowess, we wish to thank Eric Pfrunder. Thank you also to L'Wren Scott, our L.A. Special Issues Director, who was a vital part of this project from its inception and who managed the California-sized task of dressing nearly every subject shot by Mr. Lagerfeld in both issues.
We also wish to thank Odile Gilbert for flair with all our subjects' hair; and thanks to Stephane Marais for his makeup artistry.
Many thanks as well to Bernward Sollich, Olivier Saillant and Frederic David for their technical assistance behind the lens; to Pascal Brault; and to Pif for their postproduction wizardry. Thanks as well to Isabelle Ries, JeanMichel Jouannet and Sebastien Jondeau for their assistance.
Major thanks must also be extended to Bombay Cafe's David Chaparro for his fantastic catering on the Lagerfeld set, and to Ammo's Wade Williams for his tasty lunches. We also thank L'Wren Scott's assistants Tara Shiriff and Leslie Sungail for their work, as well as Jennifer Seery, for everything. Thanks also to Thomas Thurnauer and his assistant Brandon Klein for the prop work.
THE NIELDS L.A. ROCKS SHOOTS
For their technical assistance and support, we wish to thank Keith Leman and Travis Shinn. We also wish to acknowledge everyone at Sheryl Nields' studio, O.T.M.F.C. for their hard work and dedication. And a giant thank you to Doss for always keeping it fun.
For their work on the Nields shoots, we wish to thank the styling duo of Arianne Tunney and Alyssa Leal, as well as Naomi deLuce Wilding. Thanks also to Jennifer Seery who provided such valuable assistance to Interview's fabulous Fashion Director, Joanna Jacovini, whose vision was critical throughout this portfolio.
The Nields shoots had the benefit of a large number of dedicated and talented hairstylists and groomers, and each of them deserves our thanks: Jonathon Antin and his team of assistants, Norlan Nogera, Ross Riggs and Michael Solis; Mark Townsend; Dejoun Thompson; Cherie Combs; and Tasha Haywood.
Thanks also to our stellar team of makeup artists: Rachel Goodwin for artistry, as well as Ronna Lauren and Nanette Ikegami for their talents with the makeup brush. Thanks also to Shabnam Pulice and Jennifer Pitt who assisted Rachel Goodwin.
Pulling off a special issue such as this one is largely dependent on knowing where you're going and making sure you get there on time. For this we are enormously grateful to the following individuals and organizations for their exceptional generosity--without them, this issue would not have been possible: Air France, in particular Michael Carroll and Catherine D'anchald, for their assistance with airline tickets; Smashbox Studios, L.A., notably Eden Mitry, Deana Welker, Anthony Tamayo and Ed Conley, for helping with studio and equipment rental; The Beverly Hills Hotel, especially Barbara McGuinness, for her help with some of the most deluxe accommodations in town arid for providing the ultimate L.A. location; The St. Regis Hotel, principally Diana Marcus and Matthew LaVine, for making sure our crew was happy and more than comfortable and for generously providing use of their incredible penthouse suite and banquet room; Avalon Transportation, in particular Terry Schwab and Dave Dinwiddie, for supplying cars fo r many of the issue's subjects; and to PTS Truck Rental, Inc., notably Mitchell Sack, for providing wardrobe transportation. Thanks also to drivers Tracie Waters, Philip Austin, Justin Ducoty and Mike Bailey.
We are also deeply grateful to the following for their generosity in connection with Sheryl Nields' shoots: The Icon lab, for their assistance with film and processing; Miauhaus Studio, for their help with studio and equipment rental; and the Chuuch, for providing the ultimate location for the Snoop Dogg and the Doggystyle All-Stars shoots.
