Coldplay

Interview,  August, 2002  by Dimitri Ehrlich

A Rush of Blood to the Head (Capitol)

After emerging with a great sleeper debut, the British retro-purists return with a new set of dynamic, melancholic pop. Less ambitious than Pink Floyd (to whom they are commonly compared) Coldplay are anachronistically, affably earnest, offering bruised love songs that shimmer with hope, despite the patterns of sadness you'll find if you listen closely.
