John C. Nienstedt

National Catholic Reporter,  May 4, 2007

> John C. Nienstedt, bishop of New Ulm, Minn., since 2001, was named coadjutor archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis April 24. Nienstedt, 60, automatically becomes head of the arch-diocese upon the death or retirement of current Archbishop Harry J. Flynn, who turns 74 this month. NCR profiled Nienstedt in its May 7, 2004, issue after he denounced the theological views of his New Ulm predecessor, Bishop Raymond Lucker.
