Ogio Revs Up Pitch for Golf Bags with Motorcycle Promo

Brandweek,  Feb 21, 2000

SALT LAKE CITY--Ogio, which markets rugged, functional and colorful sport bags and backpacks, is launching a year-long "Need for Speed" campaign--including a consumer sweepstakes promotion--to support its relatively fledgling entry into the business of golf bags. Partnered with motorcycle company Ducati, the contest will give away an $11,000 SuperSport 900 bike as grand prize.

"Our consumers share a common lifestyle: one that is youthful, energized and fast-paced," explained Ogio vp David Triptow about the demographic tie-in between golf and motorcycling. The contest will be promoted in golf shops on golf bag hangtags, along with other POP materials. For retailers who order in quantity, Ogio will provide an actual Ducati motorcycle for in-store display. Motorcycle retailers who join the promotion will also get special cycle-and-golf bag displays. Contest deadline is Jan. 5, 2001.
