Show Me The Money

Brandweek,  May 1, 2000  by Jennifer Ownes

MoneyHunt, the public television program that vets entrepreneurs' business ideas, is putting its money where its mouth is.

The show, which for years has given entrepreneurs free advice, now plans to give only lucky creator of a killer business plan some free money. As part of its search to find the best under-funded business idea in the U.S, the Wow! What a Great Idea" contest plans to give away $100,000 to one winner. Entrepreneurs have until June 5 to audition either online at www.moneyhunt.com or at live events to be held nationwide.

Judges will rate submissions based on their overall quality and viability, size of market and market potential, and management team experience. In all, 26 semi-finalists will be chosen to appear on 13 MoneyHunt episodes with another two selected for the final "Wow! What a Great Idea" episode. The two finalists will have up to 10 minutes to present their business plan to the MoneyHunt panel. Series co-hosts Miles Spencer and Cliff Ennico will then join with a special guest "mentor" to choose a winner.

The contest winner will first be announced July 5 live via broadband on the MoneyHunt Web site, while the actual television program will air later on public television stations. In addition to $100,000, however, the winning entrepreneur will also receive 10 hours of public relations services, legal and accounting advice, office furnishings, computer products, telecommunications and wireless services and added media exposure through MoneyHunt's various media promotions.
