STAMFORD, CONN.--World Wrestling Federation Entertainment and joint-venture TV partner NBC, last week pulled the plug on the much-hyped Xtreme Football League (XFL) less than four months after the first game was played adding that it expects to take about $35 million in related losses. The XFL, which tried to create buzz with scantily-clad cheerleaders and numerous changes to American football, had been struggling to win viewers.

Last month's championship game that saw the L.A. Xtreme trounce the San Francisco Demons 38-6, was watched by a paltry 1.7 million households, per Nielsen.
