Food for thought

I would like to compliment Abigail Chipley on her article, "The Hidden Faces of Hunger" (June, p. 64). As a member of Social Outreach in Mastic Beach, N.Y., and a participant in running a small care kitchen for the local church, I have come across many people who have dietary restrictions. From people with heart disease to high blood pressure to PKU (phenylketonuria) disease, it has been very difficult trying to find the best diet for everybody.

Ms. Chipley's article has addressed many of the problems Americans seem to have not noticed in this country. I will share her article at our next outreach meeting.
