LETTERS - Brief Article - Letter to the Editor

Vegetarian Times,  June, 2000

Healthy and Wise

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Cents and Sensibility" [April, p. 78], on socially responsible investing. The quote from Sue Zaymaier, "I don't patronize these products so why would I buy their stocks," made perfect sense. The information will be a great asset in helping your readers to use their investment dollars to buy into companies that will not use the funds to harm animals or our environment.

Reaping the Rewards

Thank you for your article about the many values of community gardening ["Urban Edens," March, p. 79]. New York City is home to more than 200 community gardens, but they are threatened with being bulldozed and sold to developers by a mayor who just doesn't get that community gardens are beneficial--ecologically, socially and economically--to their surrounding neighborhoods. Though I doubt Mayor Rudy Giuliani reads Vegetarian Times, thanks for spreading the word to everyone who does.

Soothing Scrubs

I loved your article "Get Glowing" [March, p. 88]. I used to think that to exfoliate, I had to scrub away. But this often left my acne-prone skin red and irritated. I was glad to find out that it is possible to apply an exfoliant like an AHA and let it do the work.
